049. Gerz, Jochen. EXIT. Materialen zum Dachauprojekt. Hamburg/Hinwil: Edition Howeg/Edition Hosmann, 1972. Large oblong (34 x 23 cm) 106 pages, with 52 tipped in plates. Rivet-bound black marbled paper over boards.
- First edition. One of 180, numbered and signed copies. An early project where Gerz still is explicitly interested in the relationship between text and image. In the form of a statement he writes in the introduction:”Die Aufnahmen zum Dachau-Projekt sind am 3.
This book has seen several reprints, the latest was published in 1996 on the occasion of an exhibitions held in the Centre Georges Pompidou, Museum Wiesbaden and in the Martin Gropius–Bau in Berlin. (glasmeier 165) euro 850

050. Gerz, Jochen. Leben (vivre). Text in French and German. Hinwil/Geneve: Howeg by Ecart, 1975. Small oblong octavo, unpaginated, 6 pages, 5 photographic illustrations. Printed wrappers.
- First edition. One of 500 copies. This booklet is published after a performance that took place in the Museum Bochem.

051. Gerz, Jochen. Die Schwierigkeit Des Zentaurs Beim Vom Pferd steigen. Munchen: Kunstraum, 1976. Cloth clam shell box containing 6 original photographs (12, 7 x 17,7 cm) mounted on heavy boards, + one original handwritten text in mirror writing, signed and dated + one colophon page, numbered and signed in pen by Gerz in mirror writing also. Each photograph is hand painted and numbered in mirror writing. Clam shell box lightly soiled.
- First edition. One of XXV(XXX) numbered and signed copies with 6 original handpainted and numbered photographs + one handwritten text. In the handwritten text in mirror writing Gerz answers a letter. The answer is different in each of the 30 copies. Here Gerz writes:
"22/10/76
Jochen Gerz (....)"
Gerz made for the 37th Venice Biennale in 1979 an installation "Die Schwierigkeit des Zentaurs beim vom Pferd steigen" that later has been reconstructed in the Landesmuseum Wiesbaden.
This publication is representative for an interest that Gerz develops since the early seventies about the relationship between text and image (photo/ texts) and the ‘impossibility of representation’. (see also moeglin-delcroix 80; Glasmeier 167). euro 2.600

063. Hendricks, Geoffry. La Capra. Photographs by Bruno Bucci, Roberto Donatelli and Enzo Sbarra. Napoli/ New York: Edizioni Morra & Printed editions, 1979. Small octavo, 79 pages, 20 photographic illustrations. Illustrated wrappers.
- First edition. '« LA CAPRA » was presented the evening of Tuesday, January 20, 1976 at Studio Morra, Via Calabritto 20, in Naples. Performing with me in the piece were Vittorio Buongiorno, Fabio della Sala, and Felice Gallo . . . and also in a certain way, Jasmina Ban, who decided to cut off all her hair for the ladder, rather than just a single lock. My journal notes, expanded and annotated, which I made a few days before the performance, and after getting to know the space, establish my initial thinking about the work. The score diagrams the sequence of activities and the relationship of the four of us to each other that night. The third text I wrote several days after the performance, and is a summation of the images. The dreams are the ones I read that night, and which I dipped into a pail of water and tied to the chair I was sitting on, one by one after I read them. They are a random selection of my dreams, and some dreams of others close to me — family and friends. ' euro 60

066. Huebler, Douglas. Location Piece #2. New York City - Seattle, Washington. New York: Multiples, Inc.,1970. Square octavo size envelope containing 19 leaves, 2 photocopies of part of the map of manhattan + part of the city of seattle, 16 photographic plates + 1 page with printed artist statement. Printed envelope slighlty soiled, inside mint..
- First edition. Originally produced as a contribution to the Multiples, Inc. "Artists and Photographs" portfolio of 1970. 'In New York and Seattle an area was arbitrarily selected within which a person in each city photographed places that he, or she, felt could be characterized as being (1) "frightening" (2) "erotic" (3) "transcendent" (4) "passive" (5) "fevered" and (6) "muffled". Within each area each person made two entirely different sets of six photographs after which all four sets were sent to a third person (the artist) with no information that would make it possible to key any one of the photographs with any one of the words originally specified. The four sets (24 photographs) were then scrambled altogether and 12 of these arbitrarily selected for this piece; to those were added 4 photographs that had not been made to characterize any kind of place. 16 photographs, a Xerox map of New York and another of Seattle join with this statement to constitute the form of this piece.' - First edition. One of 300 numbered and signed copies. 084. Manzoni, Piero. Alcune realizzazione. Alcuni esperimenti. Alcuni progetti. (Milano): M comunicazione 1, 1962. Thin octavo, 14 pages, 8 photographic illustrations. Illustrated wrappers.
- First edition of this rare publication of Manzoni. On the last page of this little booklet Manzoni writes about the works he has made since 1957, starting with his ‘achromes’, since 1960 how he started working with ‘threads’, his ‘space sculptures’, his ‘fingerprints’... On the left hand pages of this booklet fragments of this text, while on the right hand page we find reproductions of the ‘objects’, or ‘realizations’. It is interesting to see, and it would need some further attention, how manzoni’s work, that is anti-representational to the extreme, uses photographs not only to document his works, but also how he uses photography to exhibit the texture of his objects (often using micro photography) and how his photographs are reproduced in a nearly challenging conventional esthetic tradition. 088. Mauri, Fabio. Manipolazione di cultura. Manipulation der Kultur. Pollenza-Macerata: La Nuova Foglio, 1976 . Large folio, unpaginated, 42 plates. Black cloth. Black printed wrappers.
- First edition. One of 1000 copies of this impressive and wonderfully produced artists’ book, entirely composed with photographs taken in Nazi-Germany. Each photograph has a subtitle in Italian and German. Nearly each title starts with an accusative “they”: they burn books; they know about quality; they hide their traces... ; they take pictures of everything. A criticism on the use and misuse of the photograhic image by the Nazi-regime + certainly one of the most impressive anti-fascist books ever. (Dematteis - Maffei nr. 1691). euro 400
