113. Munari, Bruno. Xerografia. Documentazione sull’uso creative delle macchine Rank Xerox. (Milano): Rank Xerox, (1970). Large Quarto, 52 pages, numerous illustrations. Illustrated wrappers. A very fine copy of this rare publication.
- First edition. This is the first ‘hors commerce’ edition of a book, later published in 1977 by Zanichelli in Bologna: Munari, Bruno, ed. Xerographie originali : Un esempio di sperimentazione sistematica strumentale (Original Xerography: An example of instrumental systematic experimentation). Bologna: Nicola Zanichelli, 1977. Munari demonstrates how the Rank Xerox copying machine, the RX 720 can be used creatively. Munari uses materials, text and photographs to demonstrate these possibilities. In the foreword Mundari compares the RX 720 with a piano-forte, saying that you can play a long note on a pianoforte, but a it is just an instrument that does not make art, but an instrument with which ‘one’ can make sound art. Presentation copy, inscribed on page 3 with red pen: 'A Gianni Ferranto & Vera / MUNARI / settembre 1970.' (dematteis & maffei 1862 - these authors give as publication date 1971. The publication itself has no date. this inscription makes it highly probable that the publishing date was not 1971, but 1970 !) sold
